The Hopkinsville Community College Foundation received a $10,000 grant from the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) to support the Hopkinsville Community College Air Conditioning Technology program. The grant funds will allow HCC’s program to provide students with enhanced, real-world experience with propane. In addition to monetary support, the PERC will provide curriculum, instructor tools, a regulator test, and demo board to use in the classroom.

By providing air conditioning technology students with the proper tools, equipment, knowledge, and support to operate and understand propane gas HVAC systems, HCC will better serve students to become employed in the field and also enhance service to the residents and businesses in the area who need propane HVAC service.
A local partnership with a propane retailer is a grant requirement to ensure the college’s lab is set up safely. HCC has partnered with Southern States to act as a Propane Advisor for the college’s program.
An additional grant benefit includes a 2-day training for HCC Air Conditioning Technology Instructor Patrick Stallons alongside other 2025 HVAC Technical School Grant Program recipients held at Collin College in McKinney, Texas.
