Program Oversight
Every KCTCS college is independently accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and is responsible for ensuring that its dual credit activities are consistent with applicable accreditation requirements, institutional policies, and academic standards.
Dual credit courses are college courses and are subject to the same expectations for academic quality and institutional oversight as other college offerings. The college maintains responsibility for the academic quality and integrity of its dual credit offerings, including appropriate oversight of curriculum, faculty qualifications, student learning outcomes, assessment, and other academic expectations.
Certain decisions related to dual credit may have institutional accreditation implications, including (but not limited to):
- Offering instruction at a new high school or other location.
- Expanding or changing the courses or programs offered at an existing location.
- Changes that affect how much of a credential students may complete at a particular location.
- Significant changes to the delivery or structure of an existing dual credit offering.
Accreditation requirements may differ depending on the specific circumstances and may change over time. Questions about the accreditation implications of a dual credit offering or proposed change should be directed to the college’s Institutional Accreditation Liaison (IAL). The Dual Credit contact can connect you with the College’s IAL regarding questions about institutional accreditation. The IAL can help determine what institutional review, documentation, or SACSCOC action, if any, may be appropriate before implementation.
