POET MITCHELL L.H. DOUGLAS TO READ AT HCC'S NOV. 4TH 'HOPTOWN READING SERIES'

Hopkinsville Community Colleges Hoptown Reading Series will present its first reading of the fall semester at 7 p.m., Thursday, November 4 at the campus Library. Poet Mitchell L. H. Douglas will be featured reading from a selection of his work.


Mitchell L. H. Douglas is an assistant professor of Creative Writing at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis. His poems have appeared in Callaloo, Crab Orchard Review, Ninth Letter and the anthologies The Ringing Ear: Black Poets Lean South (University of Georgia Press) and Zoland Poetry No. 2 (Zoland Books) among others. A Cave Canem fellow and cofounder of the Affrilachian Poets, his debut collection, Cooling Board: A Long-Playing Poem (Red Hen Press, 2009) was nominated for a 2010 NAACP Image Award in the Outstanding Literary Work-Poetry category and a 2010 Hurston/Wright Legacy Award. Douglas, a Louisville native, resides in Indianapolis.


This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will follow the reading.
