KCTCS President Names Interim Head to Lead Hazard Community and Technical College

Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) President Michael B. McCall announced today the selection of Kristin T. Williams as interim president of Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC) with administrative duties set to begin July 6.

Since 2007, Dr. Williams has served as the chief academic officer at Hopkinsville Community College (HCC), where she is responsible for the overall operations of the academic side of the institution. Dr. Williams previous experience at HCC will help her blend seamlessly into the educational structure of HCTC.

I am confident Dr. Williams successful blend of scholarship, service and KCTCS leadership experience is exactly what HCTC needs as we continue the search for the next president, said Dr. McCall.

Prior to her post at HCC, Dr. Williams served in several leadership positions at Santa Fe Community College in Gainsville, Florida, including Associate Vice President, Academic Affairs; and Assistant Vice President, Workforce, Continuing and Community Education.

Dr. Williams attended the KCTCS Presidents Leadership Seminar in 2008-2009. Candidates are selected from each of the 16 colleges to participate in the seminar, which promotes and strengthens leadership traits and explores such broad-ranging issues as national issues and trends, professionalism, media relations and customer service. Dr. Williams is also a member of the KCTCS Academic Council, as well as the KCTCS Deans Peer Team.

Dr. Williams educational credentials include a bachelors degree in agriculture, a masters degree in higher education administration, and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Florida. In 2007, she was awarded the University of Floridas Institute of Higher Education Outstanding Graduate Award.
