Hopkinsville Community College Named Military Friendly School

Hopkinsville Community College has been named as a military friendly school by G.I. Jobs. The list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools which are doing the most to embrace Americas veterans as students.

The list was compiled through research in which G.I. Jobs polled more than 7,000 schools nationwide. Criteria for making the Military Friendly Schools list included efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students, results in recruiting military and veteran students and academic accreditations.

Hopkinsville Community College is unique in the fact that it has an extended campus housed on the Fort Campbell Army Base. Over the last few years, weve averaged approximately 800 active duty military, family members, veterans and Department of Defense employees enrolled at Fort Campbell every eight weeks. On our campus, we recognize the entire military familys sacrifice and cater to them as a whole, said Marc Barker, director, HCC Fort Campbell Campus. Were excited about the educational opportunities that the Post 9/11 GI Bill will bring to our students. Since those benefits are payable for tuition starting on or after August 1, 2009, we hope to see even more servicemen and women enroll.
