HCC Registered Nursing Graduates Have 100 Percent Pass Rate on National Exam

Hopkinsville Community College administrators have received confirmation that the 2009 graduates of the Associate Degree Registered Nurse (ADRN) program have achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). While past graduating classes have consistently achieved an above 90 percent pass rate, this is the first time a graduating class has accomplished a 100 percent pass rate since the college joined the Kentucky Community amp; Technical College System in 1998.

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) in Chicago develops and analyzes the NCLEX-RN examination for all graduates of professional nursing programs. There were 24 ADRN students included in HCCs 2009 graduating class. We are excited and proud of this class, said Elwanda Adams, allied health division chair. Not only did this group obtain a 100 percent pass rate, but they all had nursing positions waiting for them. They are a true testament to hard work.

Statistics released by the United States Department of Labor show a 23.5 percent job growth for registered nurses from 2006 through 2016. We recognize the need for growth in allied health programs in our region, said HCC President, James Selbe. HCC is dedicated to meeting the educational needs of those students. We hope to grow our nursing programs and add new allied health programs in the future.

Students interested in the nursing field have numerous options at Hopkinsville Community College. Students can complete a certified nursing assistant (CNA) certification, an advanced certificate to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN), and an associate of science degree to become a registered nurse (RN). The College's nursing programs are fully approved by the Kentucky State Board of the Nursing. For more information about nursing programs options, please contact (270) 707-3840.
