HCC announces Cadiz Rotary Scholarship recipients

Hopkinsville Community College has released the names of the recipients of the Cadiz Rotary Scholarships for 2017-2018. In 2010, the club voted to endow a scholarship program with Hopkinsville Community College Foundation, Inc., and the $50,000 gift was matched with monies from the Kentucky Community and Technical College System’s endowment match program. Cadiz Rotary followed the 2010 gift with an additional gift of $50,000 in 2013. Scholarships for students are generated by income from this endowment.

 “Cadiz Rotary Club has provided exceptional scholarship support to Hopkinsville Community College, setting up an endowment that allows graduates of Trigg County High School to be eligible for a $500 scholarship per semester,” noted incoming HCC President Dr. Alissa Young. To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, students must be graduates of Trigg County High School, held a GPA of 2.0 or better in high school, and be enrolled full-time at HCC.  Students do not have to maintain continuous enrollment at HCC to be eligible, and applications by adults returning to college are welcomed.

 Recipients of scholarships for 2017-2018 are:  Luther Carneyhan, Robert Deason, Zebulon Dehart, Madalyn Dewey, Gracie Dixon, Katelyn Futrell, Dominique Graves, Faith Hughes, Griffin Lovely, Ashlee Messmer, Branden Miller, Jacob Price, Kimberlee Shelton, Jonathan Sink, Benson Stallons and William Stevens.

 Dr. Jason Warren, Chief Student Affairs Officer at HCC said that these scholarships are important to students coming to HCC. “We welcome graduates of Trigg County High School to HCC and their next step in pursuing their career goals,” Warren stated. “The flexibility of the Cadiz Rotary Scholarship Endowment allows any graduate of Trigg County High, regardless of date of graduation to apply for scholarship support, and we are here to help them achieve their dreams,” he concluded.
