CADIZ ROTARY NAMED BENEFACTOR OF THE YEAR BY HOPKINSVILLE COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOUNDATION, KCTCS
For years, the Cadiz Rotary Club has supported local students with its scholarship
and loan programs. Recently, the club voted to endow a scholarship program with the
Hopkinsville Community College Foundation, Inc., and the $50,000 gift was matched
with monies from the Kentucky Community and Technical College Office of Institutional
Advancement, pushing the endowment principal to $100,000. During the term of immediate
past president Carl McCammon, the club successfully brokered an endowment agreement
with the Foundation that will provide scholarships for eligible students exclusively
from Trigg County in perpetuity.
Cadiz Rotarys generosity and timing of the gift has enabled them to double their principal,
because of the statewide program currently in place, stated HCC Foundation President
Jo Glover. We appreciate their gift, and the generosity of the state funding that
the local Foundation has been able to leverage to its advantage, with a total of $600,000
in matching monies from KCTCS Endowment Trust benefiting our local endowments, counting
the Foundation Textbook Scholarship Endowment and Hopkinsville Rotary Endowment,
Glover continued.
According to HCC Foundation Executive Director Yvette Eastham, Cadiz Rotary has been
named Benefactor of the Year by the HCC Foundation and KCTCS, and will receive recognition
and an award at the 11th Annual President's Gala and Benefactors Awards Dinner, hosted
by KCTCS President and Mrs. Michael B. McCall at the Lexington Convention Center on
Saturday October 16, 2010. Last year's event drew more than 600 state and local dignitaries
throughout Kentucky to honor an impressive list.
