Montre’ale Jones Named 2017 Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Bronze Scholar

Montre’ale Jones a student at Hopkinsville Community College has been named a 2017 Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Bronze Scholar. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team program by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver and 50 Bronze Scholars, and providing nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually. Each Bronze Scholar receives a $1,000 scholarship and a special medallion.

Mr. Jones is currently serving as the Student Government Association President at HCC as well one of two students elected by peers to serve on the Kentucky Community and Technical College System Board of Regents. He was recently accepted into the Lewis Honors College at the University of Kentucky, where he will be working in the College of Design, School of Architecture on a double major in architectural design and landscape architecture. HCC President Dr. Jay Allen said, “I am exceptionally proud of Montre’ale and all his accomplishments as a student at Hopkinsville Community College. He personifies what is possible when students start at home at Community. We wish him all the best as he continues his educational journey at the University of Kentucky.”

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society administers the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Program. Student scholars receive local, state and national recognition at Phi Theta Kappa’s annual convention, being held April 6-8, in Nashville, TN. High-achieving students are nominated for the award by campus administrators. An independent panel of judges considers academic achievement, leadership, and engagement in college and community service in the selection process.

 Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of community college students. The Society is made up of more than 3.2 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in nine nations.
