This course provides an opportunity to gain expertise in radon measurement and mitigation techniques. This includes learning to identify, assess, and manage radon risks in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
The student will explore the principles of radon testing, equipment use, result interpretation, and compliance with national and local regulations.
Our course allows for the acquisition of hands-on experience in radon mitigation methods,
including soil depressurization, ventilation strategies, and sealing techniques. Develops
the skill to reduce radon levels and ensure indoor air quality by applying effective
mitigation strategies.

Students who enroll in the course may be eligible to participate in a research study. Study participation is voluntary. Eligible research study participants must be:
- At least 18 years of age
- In good academic standing in the Construction Technology Program
- Enrolled in CAR 105- Radon Measurement and Mitigation
Study participants will be asked to complete 6-10 surveys over the course of the project.
In addition, we invite participants to engage with the local radon coalition by attending
at least one meeting. Study participants will receive a $25 gift card each time they
complete a survey.
For study participants, the research grant will cover course tuition. Study participants
who successfully complete the course are also eligible to take these NRSB certification
exams at no cost*: Radon Measurement Specialist and Radon Mitigation Specialist.
*Fees associated with any retake or repeated examination attempts are not covered.
