Our Commercial Driver's License (CDL) program is designed to prepare individuals with little or no commercial driving experience for an entry-level position in the trucking industry. Our focus is on developing safe, responsible drivers. This accelerated training program is provided by HCC's Workforce Solutions department in cooperation with members of the Kentucky Trucking Association.

What are my degree, diploma, and certificate options?
Payment and Refund Policy
Tuition: $4,500 includes instruction, DOT physical and drug test, permit and license fees for up to three road skills tests.
Payment or Payments Arrangements: Required before class begins (cash, card or check).
Financial Assistance: Available through outside agencies. HCC is approved for veterans and/or dependent/spouse of a veteran to receive Veterans Educational Benefits. Contact your local counselor for details.
Refunds: Full refunds if cancelled by HCC or student officially withdraws before first day of class. Partial refunds only if requested in writing by the end of the second day of class or if student does not pass DOT physical or drug test. No refunds granted if requested after the second day of class or if student is dismissed for violating class code of conduct. Non-attendance does not relieve student of financial obligation or entitle student to a refund. No refund will be made to a student whose course load is reduced as result of passing a special examination for credit.

Program Requirements
- 18+ years or older
- US citizen or permanent resident
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Valid driver's license
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening
Please note: Students with a driver's license from outside of Kentucky should plan to enroll at least 30 days before their class begins to minimize license transfer charges.
Program Features
Accelerated Schedule
- 4 weeks, 8 AM-5 PM, Monday-Friday
- Monthly start dates (January-November)
Comprehensive Training
- CDL learner's permit and Class A endorsement preparation (FMCSA 380.503)
- 160 hours of classroom, range and road training led by credentialed experienced trucking professionals
- DOT regulations, logbooks, trip planning and pre-trip inspection
- Manual and automatic truck maneuvering and driving skills
- HazMat endorsement exam prep (exam not included)
Career Support
- Class A road test administered by Kentucky State Police upon class completion
- Certificate of completion
- Job placement assistance
