
AA/AS Credential Application
Important Information:
This form should only be used if you are graduating with an AA or AS degree.
If you are graduating from one of our technical programs with an AAS, Diploma, or Certificate students MUST meet with their academic advisor to complete a graduation application, obtain signature of advisor, as well as an attached updated plan of study. Once this process is complete, the advisor or student should submit to the Registrar by the designated deadline for the semester.
Deadline for Submission
Apply for your degree or certificate and register for Commencement by the deadlines shown below. If submitted after the deadline, the application will automatically be submitted for the following graduation.
- Spring 2025: February 28
- Summer 2025: June 24
Apply only if you have identified the term in which you will complete all degree requirements. If you are receiving a degree and/or certificate(s) in the same academic year, please complete a separate form for each credential for which you are applying.
Graduation Requirements
- A student becomes eligible for graduation when the student has been admitted to and completed the prescribed program with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.0.
- At least 25% of the approved curriculum for a diploma or degree must be completed at Hopkinsville Community College, also known as meeting Residency.
- A student must meet with their advisor and be informed of the courses which must be satisfactorily complete in order to fulfill the curriculum requirements for the desired degree, diploma, or certificate.
- It is the student’s responsibility to meet the above-stated requirements before graduating from Hopkinsville Community College.
Commencement Ceremonies
Ceremony details will be emailed to the students KCTCS email account mid-semester. All participants will wear academic regalia, which can be purchased at Barnes and Noble Bookstore located on the Hopkinsville Campus.
Credential Conferral and Mailing of Credentials
- A student is considered a candidate for the credential(s) until the degree audit process is complete, which can take up to 6-8 weeks after graduation.
- The candidacy status does not necessarily indicate that a degree will be awarded; it simply indicates that a student has applied for the credential.
- Candidates will be mailed their credentials to the mailing address listed on the credential application 6-8 weeks after graduation. Please keep in mind, the college is not responsible if the credential is lost or damaged in the mail. If a candidate would rather pick up their credentials in office, they will reach out to the Records Office to arrange pick up.
- If a student does not meet the graduation requirements, they will need to reapply for graduation once the requirements have been met.
Transcripts showing degree conferral
After all requirements are completed, graduates may order transcripts from the Registrar’s Office, Hopkinsville Community College Attn: Records PO Box 2100, Hopkinsville, KY 42241-2100 or online at www.hopkinsville.kctcs.edu. It should be noted that transcripts should be requested “held” until the degree is conferred.
Name on credential
The name printed on the diploma will be the full legal name that has been listed on the credential application.
