CDL Training

Train for your CDL in just four weeks!

Our Commercial Driver's License (CDL) program is designed for individuals with little or no commercial driving experience in preparation for an entry-level position in the trucking industry.  This top-quality training is provided by HCC's Workforce Solutions department in cooperation with members of the Kentucky Trucking Association.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL) program includes ...

  • CDL learner's permit and Class A endorsement preparation;
  • 160 hours of training, 8 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday, for four weeks;
  • map reading, trip planning, and vehicle operation training;
  • DOT rules, regulations and log books;
  • Class A road test administered by Kentucky State Police;
  • certificate of completion and job placement assistance.
  • All classes are taught by certified and experienced trucking professionals.

HCC's all-inclusive program fee covers the cost of all the items listed above.  Course content also includes information to prepare for the Hazardous Materials Endorsement Knowledge test; however, students who are interested in earning that endorsement are responsible for scheduling the HazMat exam and paying applicable fees.

Classes will start on the first Monday of each month unless otherwise announced.

College Credential

Students will be enrolled in TRU100 and earn a Tractor Trailer Certificate from HCC upon successfully completing the program.

Program Requirements

Students must be able to read, write and speak English, be at least 18 years old, meet Department of Transportation physical requirements, pass a DOT drug test, and have a valid driver's license.

Please note:  Students with a driver's license from outside of Kentucky should allow plan to enroll at least 30 days before their class begins.

Payment Information and Refund Policy

The $4,000 tuition covers instruction, CDL permit and license fees, and DOT physical and drug test.

Tuition payment or payment arrangements must be made before class begins.  Pay by cash, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express or cashier's check payable to HCC.  Personal checks are not accepted.

Financial assistance may be available through Workforce Investment Act and Vocational Rehabilitation programs.  HCC is approved for veterans and/or dependent/spouse of a veteran to receive Veterans Educational Benefits.  Contact your local counselor for details.

Full refunds will be granted if the class is cancelled by HCC or the student officially withdraws before the first day of class.  Partial refunds may be granted if requested in writing by the end of the second day of class or if the student does not pass DOT physical or drug test.  No refunds will be granted if requested after the second day of class or if the student is dismissed for violating the class code of conduct.  Non-attendance does not relieve the student of financial obligation or entitle the student to a refund.  No refund will be made to a student whose course load is reduced as result of passing a special examination for credit.
