If you like to use math, science, and engineering to focus on practical solutions to technical problems, this program may be for you. We can provide the knowledge and skills for jobs in a variety of growing, complex fields such as engineering, robotics and automation, and instrumentation.
Jobs range from production-line work using automatic test equipment to Maintenance Technicians. You might work as assistant to an engineer, liaison between an engineer and craftsman, or plant maintenance specialist. Skills you should have include good eyesight, color discrimination, finger dexterity, patience, extended concentration, and attention to detail. A background in math through trigonometry, high school physics, and general science is helpful.

Graduates have developed rewarding careers as engineering technicians, electronics technicians, automation and instrumentation specialists. These graduates work throughout the region at manufacturing facilities, businesses, power plants and hospitals. They install high tech equipment, program programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and calibrate instrumentation.
This program has no special admission requirements. Please consult HCC’s general admission requirements.
If taken fulltime, the diploma in Engineering Technology should take you 18 - 24 months to complete.
You can work with your Program Coordinator to receive the GOTS AAS by using your diploma and taking some additional courses.
